ProjektassistentInnen

Seit Oktober 2019 arbeiten drei ProjektassistentInnen – gemeinsam mit anderen interessierten DoktorandInnen – am Aufbau einer Arbeitsgruppe. Die Dissertationen der drei ProjektassistentInnen-Stellen befassen sich mit der Relevanz, der Wahrnehmung und der Repräsentation translatorischer Phänomene sowie ihrer AkteurInnen und deren Handeln in Zeiten steigenden Translationsbedarfs. Der Schwerpunkt der Analysen wird auf translationspolitische und translationssoziologische Fragen gelegt, die sich im Zusammenhang mit rezenten gesellschaftlichen Transformationen, insbesondere durch erzwungene ebenso wie freiwillige Migrationsbewegungen sowie sich verändernden politischen Rahmenbedingungen, ergeben. Im Fokus stehen auch gesellschaftspolitisch relevante Institutionen, Organisationen und Wirtschaftsunternehmen, die in der Folge vermehrt auf translatorische Leistungen zurückgreifen.

The overarching theme for the three PhDs is the "representation, relevance and contextual frame of translation in multilingual societies".

The successful candidates will explore aspects related to the relevance, perception as well as representation of both translational phenomena and translators and interpreters at a time of rapid societal change.  Drawing on translation politics and translation sociology for their analytical framework, the PhDs will examine the impact of enforced and voluntary migrations  on the need of, and demand for translation & interpreting in institutions, organisations and businesses.
