This event is organised in collaboration with the Working Group Community Interpreting (Department of Translation Studies), the Arqus ad hoc bottom-up initiative “Multilingualism in Spaces of Crisis: The Impact of Human and Non-Human Agency”, and the Cluster “Spatial Dimensions” of the Core Research Area “Multilingualism, Migration and Cultural Transformation” at the Faculty of Humanities.

Dr. Rana Kahraman Duru: Head of Translation and Interpreting Department at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University; President of the Association of Emergency and Disaster Interpreters, research areas; community interpreting, crisis interpreting, and mental health interpreting.

Rabia Odabaşı, M.A: Research Assistant at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University; member of the Task Force in the Association of Emergency and Disaster Interpreters, research areas; community interpreting, crisis interpreting, and mental health interpreting for children.

Prof.Federico Federici: Professor of Intercultural Crisis Communication; Director of the Centre for Translation Studies at the University College London; research areas: multilingual communication in cascading crises, with particular attention to its role in healthcare contexts.

Gerald Rockenschaub: Regional Emergency Director; Co-ordinator of WHO/Europe for emergencies; Head of the WHO office for the occupied Palestinian territory (West Bank and Gaza Strip, 2014-2021); WHO Representative to Albania.
