The latest data from ethnologists show that 88 million people in the world speak Turkish as their mother tongue. Due to the fact that Turkish has its roots in the Turkic languages, this number increases to 180 million language users as mother tongue and second language. The study of Turkish offers a growing field of activity in several respects. The rapid economic upswing in Turkey, with Austria as one of the most important direct investors, is an important reason for this. This is linked to ever closer trade relations and an increased exchange between the art and cultural scenes of the two countries. Through creative knowledge transfer and individual support, we promote your ability to deal with written and oral forms of communication in both a challenging and playful way. You will acquire a wide range of intercultural skills for professional communication and for organizing artistic and cultural activities and projects.
During your studies, you will be encouraged to analyze cultural, communicative and social contexts in Turkey and German-speaking countries. Students of Turkish-speaking origin are given the opportunity to establish themselves in their mother tongue through sound language and cultural acquisition in German-speaking countries. After completing the three-year course, you will be able to start a career in areas such as internationally active commercial enterprises, organizations and institutions, international cultural and educational exchange institutions, NGOs, migration and integration institutions, administration, tourism, etc. Graduates of the Master's degree program have access to additional areas such as courts and authorities, commercial enterprises, liaison interpreting, where they can use the translation skills they have acquired or work as freelance translators/interpreters. They also have opportunities to work in middle management positions in commercial enterprises, higher administrative positions in public and private organizations and in cultural management, as well as to find new employment prospects in multilingualism in media and literature, adult education, universities and higher education institutions.
