In the Spanish degree program, we deal with the diversity of Spanish-speaking regions and focus on the plurality of language varieties and cultures. From Spanish Castilian to Andean Spanish and the La Plata dialects in Argentina, our courses explore the language and culture of over 500 million people on four continents.
As a lingua franca, Spanish is an important means of communication in business and tourism, culture, science and education. In addition to specialist knowledge in translation studies, prospective interpreters and translators on the Spanish course acquire in-depth knowledge of the cultural, socio-political, economic and historical conditions of Spanish-speaking regions. Based on real translation assignments and interpreting assignments in public institutions, institutes or cultural festivals, our students gain exciting insights into practice, which enables them to critically reflect on the relationship between Graz (Austria) and the Spanish-speaking countries.
