Italian is not only the language of Austria's second most important economic partner, but also the language of a cultural nation of almost 60 million people in our immediate neighborhood. Alongside German, it is one of the official languages of Switzerland and a central language of the numerous bodies of the European Union. Add to this the bilingualism of South Tyrol and you have a market for all forms of translation, from conference interpreting, court interpreting and medical interpreting to subtitling, the transcreation of advertising texts and the post-editing of machine translations. Teachers from the Italian department are actively involved in all of these areas and contribute their knowledge and experience to the lessons. The linguistic and intercultural prerequisites for this are created by language didacticians who are not only competent but also enjoy guiding and accompanying the well-founded acquisition of this beautiful language.
