All students at ITAT encounter the language German: courses at the university are held in German, seminar papers and theses are written in German and examinations are taken in German. In addition, we communicate with many different people in Graz on a daily basis in a wide variety of situations, using German as a common means of communication.
In the German course, we deal intensively with the structure of the German language and the characteristics of its central text types. In addition, we focus on the diverse contexts in which German is spoken and used as a communication tool. We take advantage of the cultural offerings that surround us: Museums, theaters, exhibitions, but we also explore dialects, ethnolects and sociolects. Our graduates are therefore culturally sensitive, competent and self-organized and have career prospects in companies, public authorities, NGOs, the arts and culture.
